Data Replication, Backup and Recovery
Many small business overlook the importance of a good data retention and
recovery plan until they loose critical data for the first time. Deka
Technologies will not only design a solid data retention and recovery
plan for your organization, but we can securely store your data at one
of our data centers. This means you no longer have to worry about
backing up your data and taking the tapes offsite. We will do all the
work for you.
Data Backup Vs Data Replication
What is Data Backup and how is it different from Data Replication? A
backup is a snapshot copy of a file that is saved with other files in a
proprietary format that may only be retrieved using special backup and
restore software. This “backup file” has been traditionally saved to
tape. In the past this method has been used mainly because of cost
considerations. The size of today’s file, coupled with the unreliability
in the backup process and the slow and uncertain retrieval process
lessens the desirability of the backup. In today’s business environment,
backups serve to augment a company’s DRP (Disaster Recovery Plan), but
are no longer the sole procedure used.
With the decline in prices of disk drives over the last decade, coupled
with the increased capacity of disk drives and the advances in storage
management Data Replication is now the preferred choice of companies
when it comes to instituting a Disaster Recovery or Business Continuance
Plan. Data Replication is the process by which an entire file is copied
(“replicated”) to another location, usually to a disk on a Network
Attached Storage device or a Storage Area Network Device located at an
offsite location.
File Revisioning (Archiving)
File Revisioning is the process of saving different
versions of files at set periods of time. This is useful in certain
industries such as; legal, architectural, engineering, publishing etc...
Deka Technologies can create a plan that will ensure you can return to a
document from a given time period.
Whatever your need Deka can design, implement and manage
a Data Replication or Data Backup Plan to meet the needs of your
